Secure Mobile Access 12.4 Administration Guide

Ping Command

Use the ping command to verify a network connection. When you issue the ping command, it sends an ICMP ECHO_REQUEST packet to a target host and waits to see if the host answers.

To issue a ping command

  1. In the AMC, navigate to Monitoring > Troubleshooting.

  2. Click the Ping tab.

  3. In the Address field on the Ping page, type the IPv4 or IPv6 address or host name of the machine you want to ping.

  4. Click Go. AMC issues the ping command.

After about five seconds, the results should appear in the large box at the bottom of the page. If the ping command cannot reach the host, it returns results resembling the following:

    PING 10.128.19.15 (10.128.19.15): 56 data bytes

    --- 10.128.19.15 ping statistics ---

5 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss
