IEEE802.11R Settings
The 802.11r settings include Fast Basic Service Set Transition (FT) to allow encryption keys (such as PMK, PTK, GMK, and GTK) to be stored on all of the access points within a network. When enabling these options, the client does not need to perform the complete authentication process to the server every time it roams to a new access point within the same network. This prevents a significant latency issue and packet loss.
Under IEEE802.11r Settings, enable IEEE802.11r to allow for secure, fast roaming. When this option is enabled, you can select the other options:
- Enable FT over DS – enables fast transition (FT) over the distribution system (DS).
- Enable IEEE802.11r Mix Mode – enables fast transition in mixed mode
