Scheduling Backups of a Device Configuration at All Tenants

You can schedule a backup rule for multiple tenants or for multiple devices across tenants. You can also choose to disable the backup rules scheduled at the Tenant level to prevent duplicate backup schedules for the same devices.

To schedule backups of a device configuration at all tenants

  1. Navigate to Manager View | Home > Firewalls > Backups > Schedule tab.
  2. Select All Tenants.
  3. Click the Add icon to Add Schedule.
  4. Define schedule of the backup in Schedule Configuration.

    1. Enter a Schedule Name.
    2. Select the Backup Type between TSR and EXP.

      The settings files (EXP) can be used for recovery and the Technical-Support-Reports (TSR) can be used for troubleshooting.

    3. Select the Run Type:

      • Select Scheduled to take auto backup of the device configuration at a specific time interval.
      • Select On-Demand to create configuration and Run the schedule manually as and when needed.
    4. Set the Delivery Interval between Weekly and Monthly.
    5. Specify the maximum number of backups that Firewall Management retains for each firewall.

       

      • You can configure this value up to a maximum of 10.
      • When the number of backup files in Firewall Management reaches the specified limit, Firewall Management automatically deletes the oldest backup to maintain the defined count.
    6. Select the Schedule Time to take backup of the device configuration.
    7. Enable Edit Weekly Schedule Day or Edit Monthly Schedule Date to set the day or date on which the backup should be taken.

      • Edit Weekly Schedule Day is available when you set Delivery Interval as Weekly
      • Edit Monthly Schedule Date is available when you set Delivery Interval as Monthly
    8. Set Day or Date on which the backup should be taken.
    9. Enable the Password Protect to encrypt the backup with a password.

      The password defined in the rule is required to extract the downloaded backup file.

      1. Enter a Password to encrypt the backup.
      2. Re-enter the same password to Confirm Password.
    10. Click Next to proceed to Device Selection screen.

  5. Do one of the following:

    • Select Tenant to include all devices from one or more tenants.

       

      • Tenants that already have a backup schedule at the All Tenants level are not available for selection while creating a new backup schedule.

      • Enable For selected tenant(s): disable device-level scheduled backups option to disable the backup rules scheduled at the Tenant level, preventing duplicate backup schedules for the same devices.

      • When this option is enabled, the backup rules scheduled at the Tenant level for the selected tenants are disabled and are shown as disabled in the Manager View | Home > Firewalls > Backups > Schedule tab.
      • You can enable the disabled schedule according to Enabling or Disabling Scheduled Backups.

    • Select Devices to select devices across any tenant.

      Select Devices that are online and offline from the list or select All Devices

      • You can Search for the device you want or filter the devices using Group By drop-down menu.
      • Toggle the switch to Show only online devices to filters the devices that are online.
      • You can customize the table to show or hide columns using Grid option.
  6. Click Next after choosing the devices or tenants to review.

  7. Review the added backup configuration details. Do one of the following:

    • Click Previous to make any changes to added configuration information.

    • Click Save to create a backup schedule.

    The backup schedule is now created and display on the Manager View | Home > Firewalls > Backups page.
