Registering the SMA 8200v-Standalone or CMS

After you have installed and configured the network settings for your SMA 8200v-standalone or CMS on AWS appliance, you can log into the management console and register it to your MySonicWall account. Registration of your applaince follows the same process as for other SonicWall hardware-based appliances.

System functionality is extremely limited when registration is not completed.

To register your SMA 8200v-Standalone on AWS

  1. Go to MySonicWall login page.

    1. Register the license with serial number or activation key that you received while purchasing the product.

    2. Go to My Products and click on the SMA 8200v-standalone license and click Download.

      The license is downloaded in you local machine.

  2. In the Instances page of AWS Management Console, select the Public IP of the SMA 8200v-standalone for AWS virtual machine.

    The SMA 8200v-standalone instance is launched, you can access the appliance from a browser.

  3. Enter the default credentials and then click Login.

  4. In the System Configuration group, select General Settings > Licensing > Edit.

  5. Click Import License.
  6. In the Import License page, click Choose File to select the downloaded license file and click Upload.

    The license file is uploaded into the appliance.

The SMA 8200v-standalone on AWS is registered.

To register your CMS on AWS

If you are registering the purchased license for the first time, start from step1. If you have already registered then start from the step5.

  1. Go to MySonicWall login page.

  2. Enter your MySonicWall.com account username or email address and password in the appropriate fields and click Login.

  3. Register the license with serial number or activation key.

  4. Click Submit to finish the registration process.

  5. Log in to your CMS appliance.

    Public IP of the CMS on AWS is available in the Instances page in the AWS Management Console.

  6. In the CMS home page, select Management Server > Configure > General Settings> Licensing.

  7. Click Edit.

  8. Under Online Licensing,

    • Click Manage to register the license.

      1. Enter your username or email address.

      2. Enter the password.

      3. Click Submit.

      4. Enter the Serial Number, Authentication Code and Friendly Name.

      5. Click Submit.

    • Click Synchronize to synchronize the licenses services on MySonicWall and to view the updated information in the Review and manage software licenses for the CMS page.

    You have successfully registered your CMS on AWS.

  9. Under Advance, enable the Automatically activate spike license checkbox for the CMS to automatically activate a spike license during periods of high usage if available. It is not recommended to override this behavior.

  10. Click Save.

To Activate or Upgrade or Renew the existing licenses

After registration of CMS on AWS, you can activate or upgrade or review the existing license.

  1. In the CMS home page, select Management Server > Configure > General Settings> Licensing.

  2. Click Edit.

    The Review and manage software licenses for the CMS page is displayed.

  3. Click Active or Upgrade or Renew as needed.

  4. Click Return to return back to CMS.
