How to establish PPPoE connection with Telekom VDSL
Description
NOTE: This feature is available on Gen 5 devices in firmware versions 5.9.x.x and on Gen 6 appliances in firmware 6.2.x.x. If you are running an older firmware (5.8 or 6.1) you will need to upgrade your appliance first.
Resolution
- Log into your appliance and go to Network | Interfaces. Do not configure the physical interface itself, instead create a Virtual Interface.
TIP: If you are changing your configuration from an existing WAN connection to VDSL, make sure to take the Physical (Parent) Interface off the Default Failover and LB Group - (both IPv4 and IPv6) and replace it with the new Virtual Inerface, then change the parent interface zone to Unassigned to avoid routing issues. NOTE: Gen5 devices do not allow the X1 WAN Interface to be Unassigned even if it is not a part of the Default LB Group. In this case you would need to use another interface as a partent for the VLAN. - Select "Virtual Interface" from the Add Interface drop-down menu.
NOTE: Default VLAN Tag for German Telekom is V7, however it can differ - contact your ISP to find out what tag is used for your connection. - Set the correct MTU size in the Advanced tab.
