How do I restore a backup settings file from a SonicWall firewall?

Resolution for SonicOS 7.X

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.

  1. Log in to the SonicWall firewall and navigate to "Device" in the top navigation menu.
  2. Click Firmware & Settings.
  3. Click Import/Export Configuration... and click Import Configuration. Once the settings have been imported it will reboot the firewall. Please keep in mind that your management IP addresses may have changed based on the configuration of the settings recently imported into the firewall.Image

Resolution for SonicOS 6.5

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.5 firmware.

  1. Login to the SonicWall firewall and navigate to Manage in the top navigation menu.
  2. Click Firmware & Backups.
  3. Click Import/Export Configuration... and click Import Configuration. Once the settings have been imported it will reboot the firewall. Please keep in mind that your management IP addresses may have changed based on the configuration of the settings recently imported into the firewall.

Resolution for SonicOS 6.2 and Below

The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. For firewalls that are generation 6 and newer we suggest to upgrade to the latest general release of SonicOS 6.5 firmware.

  1. Login to the SonicWall firewall and navigate to System | Settings.
  2. On the System | Settings page, click Import Settings. Once the settings have been imported it will reboot the firewall. Please keep in mind that your management IP addresses may have changed based on the configuration of the settings recently imported into the firewall.
