How can I restart the SonicWall from the GUI or the CLI?

Description

How to restart SonicWall  from GUI as well as CLI.

Resolution for SonicOS 7.X

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.

        Restart SonicWall from GUI

      1. Login to SonicWall go to Device|Settings|Restart

      2. Click Restart System .Confirm the restart process.
          Once you have confirmed that you want to restart the SonicWall, it will take 2 -4 minutes to boot the device.

       Restart SonicWall from CLI 

  1. Login to the SonicWall using a putty tool. For more detailed instructions on logging into the CLI, please refer to How to login to the SonicWall UTM appliance using the Command Line Interface.
  2. Type restart.

Resolution for SonicOS 6.5

This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.5 firmware.

 Restart SonicWall from GUI

  1. Login to SonicWall go to Manage | Updates | Restart.

      2. Click Restart .Confirm the restart process.
         Once you have confirmed that you want to restart the SonicWall, it will take 2 -4 minutes to boot the device.

       Restart SonicWall from CLI 

  1. Login to the SonicWall using a putty tool. For more detailed instructions on logging into the CLI, please refer to How to login to the SonicWall UTM appliance using the Command Line Interface.
  2. Type restart.

Resolution for SonicOS 6.2 and Below

The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 6.2 and earlier firmware. For firewalls that are generation 6 and newer we suggest to upgrade to the latest general release of SonicOS 6.5 firmware.

  1. Login to SonicWall go to System|  Restart and click Restart.
  2.  Confirm the restart process.
