Formerly recruited to a Military Special Operations Unit where “out of the box” thinking, high technical skill, ability to self-motivate and self-direct as well as critical problem solving were requirements. Expected to successfully solve problems, or troubleshoot issues that others were unable to resolve with few resources or help, yielding a positive outcome under no supervision. Especially new technologies being implemented for the first time. Leader and proud team player with can-do attitude and mentorship. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously as well as provide training to a variety of experience levels.
Rudy Messex is a 30-year veteran of Department of Defense data centers throughout the world, both fixed facilities and temporary data center nodes. He has secured some of the most of mission critical and sensitive networks for operations, tactical planning, and defense intelligence. His last 8 years in the Department of Defense leveraged his data center experience to conduct vulnerability research and penetration testing against data centers, industrial equipment manufacturing devices, and devices connected to the Internet of Things. He has briefed and given demonstrations to staff members of the congress of the United States and senior members of the United States Military. Rudy is certified by GIAC as an incident responder. He holds a CISSP certification from ISC2 and is a member of the volunteer pool of exam item writers for that certification. He is a co-author of the AFCOM white paper, Security 2020: Critical Awareness and Response. Rudy is and a contributor to ISECOM’s Hacker High School Curriculum and an adult facilitator for the GirlsGoCyberStart.org High School education organization. He is a member of ISC2, the ISSA and SOCA.
Rudy has been a speaker at many security events such as IT Hot Topics, Data Center World, INFOSECOM, SANS.org DC, Spartanburg Chamber of Commerce BENEXT and others.
