From time to time organizations may require to upgrade NSv platforms to accommodate more users and connections. This article provides quick steps on upgrading from a smaller NSv instance to a larger NSv instance.
Resolution
Export the NSv EXP which will be re-used after upgrade.
De-register license on NSv to unbind the serial number with the current NSv instance.
Click MANAGE | Licenses | Deregister.
Upgrade NSv CPU\Mem configuration
For private cloud – VMWare and HyperV
Power-off the VM.
Edit VM configuration change CPU Cores and Mem to meet the requirement of target NSv models. E.G. NSv 200 -> NSv 400, need change CPU cores from 2 -> 4, and Mem from 4GB -> 6GB.
Power-on the VM
For public cloud – Azure and AWS
Power-off the vm instance.
Change EC2 type (AWS) or VM Size (Azure) to meet the requirement of target NSv models. E.G. AWS, NSv 200 -> NSv 400, you need change the vm EC2 type from C5.large to C5.xlarge. Azure, NSv 200 -> NSv 400, you need change the vm size from Standard_D2v2 to Standard_D3v2.
Power-on the VM
Re-register NSv with a new SN for target NSv models.
After register NSv successfully, re-import the previous NSv EXP.
