Question:
How can I add/import email addresses to allowed or blocked List on Email security device.
Answer:
If you need to allow emails coming in from certain domain / email addresses / IP , you can add them to the Allowed List on email security device.
Similarly, you can block emails coming from certain domain / email addresses / IP , you can add them to the Blocked List
Please follow the steps mentioned below to add emails in allowed list:
1. Login to Email security device as admin.
2. Go to Manage | Security Services | Anti-Spam | Address Book | Allowed or Blocked
3. Click on Add , to add any of the four types mentioned below
- People
- Companies
- Lists
- IPs
4. Select People from the drop-down menu to add email address to allowed list
People
Use this page to allow or block people from sending you email. Enter the full email address of senders on the allowed and blocked lists and the address source. The list is a compilation of allowed and blocked senders from your organization's lists and lists provided by SonicWALL.
To search for a sender's email address, enter a keyword or character string. Click Go.
NOTE: An email address can not be on both the Allowed and Blocked list. If you move an email address from the Allowed list to the Blocked list, it will be removed from the Allowed list.
Email addresses in are case insensitive. Email addresses entered are converted to lower case.
Lists can be sorted in ascending or descending order by clicking the column heading.
NOTE: Your organization's entries always override user and SonicWALL entries. In the user view, your organization's entries are indicated with a dimmed check box, and users cannot delete these people from the lists.
5. Select companies to add domain name and click on add to save it
Use this panel to modify your organizations Allowed and Blocked lists by adding or deleting companies, domains, and address sources for companies.
NOTE: adding top-level domain names, such as .gov or .abc to the Allowed and Blocked lists is not supported.
To add a company to the Allowed or Blocked list:
1. Click Allowed or Blocked.
2. Enter the name of the company or domain.
3. Click Add.
To remove a company from the Allowed or Blocked list:
1. Check the check box adjacent to the name of the company from the Allowed or Blocked list.
2. Click Delete.
Searching for Companies
To search for a company in the Allowed or Blocked list, enter a keyword or character string. Click Go.
Domain names in are case insensitive. Domain names entered are converted to lower case.

6. Select List to add the allowed recipient list which is the “To” list
Mailing lists are typically addressed to a mailing list email address, rather than to the actual recipient. Thus, in this Lists page, the allowed recipient list is the “To” list. The administrator adds allowed mailing lists and newsgroups here.
Enter a keyword or character string to perform a simple search on the allowed mailing list email address column. Click Go.
• To add an address, click Add and enter or paste the mailing list or newsgroup addresses separated by a comma or carriage return. Click Add again to add the email addresses to the allowed list.
• To delete an item, select it from the list and click Delete.

Click the column heading to sort lists in ascending or descending order.

7. Select IP to add connecting IP of the sender in allowed or blocked list.
Import AddressBook
The file must use a <TAB> delimiter between data and use <CR> to separate entries. Data should be given in below format.
Email Address/Domain<TAB>D/L/E/I (Domain/List/Email/IP Address)<TAB>A/B(Allowed/Blocked)<TAB>Address List<CR>
EXAMPLE:
EmailId<TAB>E<TAB>A<TAB>email1@company.com,email2@company.com<CR>
Domain<TAB>L<TAB>B<TAB>list1@company.com,list2@company.com<CR>
NOTE: You can also export Allowed List by clicking on Export button in Allowed list and Blocked List by clicking on Export button in Blocked list respectively.
