802.11ac is the fifth generation protocol of Wifi family. 802.11ac is subdivided into two waves, Wave 1 (available now) and Wave 2 (available by the end of 2015). The first wave of 802.11ac can deliver up to 433 Mbps (low end), 867 Mbps (mid-tier), or 1300 Mbps (high end) at the physical layer. The second wave of 802.11ac can provide up to 3.47 Gbps.
