How to stop reboot loops in SonicOS 7.1.1-7040 or 7.1.1-7047

First Published:03/25/2024 Last Updated:05/17/2024

Update May 17, 2024
The Issue was identified to be caused due to a task responsible for managing connections which was fixed in the subsequent 7.1.1-7051 firmware.

This article aims to provide a solution for repeat reboots observed on firewalls operating on firmware 7.1.1-7040 or 7.1.1-7047.

The cause of the Issue is currently under investigation by Sonicwall Engineering.

An Immediate mitigation step is to upgrade the firewall's firmware to SonicOS 7.1.1-7051 Maintenance Release firmware which was published on March 12, 2024. The upgrade to this firmware stabilizes the firewall and stops further reboots from taking place.

In rare instances, the firewall may also boot itself into a factory default state (observed only on the lower-end TZ models). The mitigation step is to also upgrade the firmware to 7.1.1-7051 after recovering from safe mode status.

If the Firewall continues to exhibit further reboots after the upgrade to 7.1.1-7051 or experiences a reset to factory default status after the upgrade to 7.1.1-7051, please contact Sonicwall Support and raise a support ticket for further investigation by going to mysonicwall.com.

Please provide the diagnostics data from the firewall explained in this article https://www.sonicwall.com/support/knowledge-base/how-can-i-download-the-required-tech-support-files/170503698742108/.
