What SonicOS firmware version do I need to manage SonicWave 200 and 400 series access points?

Description

As of May 6, 2019, all SonicWave wireless access points support free cloud management as part of the access point subscription service. That includes following platforms

SonicWave 200 series: SonicWave 231c, 224w, 231o

SonicWave 400 series: SonicWave 432e, 432i, 432o

Newly purchased SonicWave 432i, 432e, and 432o access points require specific SonicOS firmware version for interoperability and firewall management of the access point.

Please follow below instructions for seamless deployment and operation of the access point

Requirements:

  • SonicWave access point with active subscription license
  • SonicExpress mobile app for iOS or Android
  • Access to Capture Security Center (CSC) via https://cloud.sonicwall.com

Cause

SonicOS firmware doesn't have the minimum compatibility requirement for SonicWave 400 series

Resolution

  1. Access point is compatible with firmware in existing branch
  2. User can opt to go to cloud from the same branch firmware (no need to upgrade to 6.5.4)
  3. The new releases include the latest vulnerability fixes fixed
