Uninstalling SonicWall Enforced Client (Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware)

Description

This article outlines the recommended way to uninstall Kaspersky Client AV application on client PCs.

Firmware/Software Version: Gen5 UTM Appliances:

  • SonicOS 5.8.0.x and lower - Only one Client AV service, either Kaspersky or McAfee, is supported at any time. If the appliance is already licensed for McAfee service and there is a need to switch to Kaspersky service then the existing McAfee service will get disabled / deactivated upon activation of Kaspersky license and vice-versa
  • SonicOS 5.8.0. 5.8.1.0 and higher: Both the Kaspersky and McAfee services are supported simultaneously

Firmware/Software Version: Gen4 UTM Appliances:

  • Only one Client AV service, either Kaspersky or McAfee, is supported at any time.
  • If the appliance is already licensed for McAfee service and there is a need to switch to Kaspersky service, then the existing McAfee service will get disabled / deactivated upon activation of Kaspersky license


Resolution

It is recommended to uninstall SEC using the Add/Remove Programs. There are two programs that needs to be uninstalled and should be uninstalled in the following prescribed order.

Step 1: First uninstall SonicWall Enforced Client
Step 2: Next uninstall SonicWall Client Kaspersky AV.
Step 3: Reboot the PC after uninstallation.

The following can be safely deleted ONLY after the PC is rebooted:

  • The folder: Program FilesSonicWallSonicWall Enforced Client
  • The Registry Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARESonicWallSonicWall Enforced Client
