How to upgrade Capture Client automatically using Client Policy?

Description

This KB article describes the process to enforce an automatic upgrade of Capture Client version to all the clients in a particular Policy.

Resolution

Capture Client allows the Administrator to enforce an upgrade of the client on all the endpoint devices automatically.

Steps to upgrade the Client Version:

  • Log into Capture Client Portal using your MysonicWall credentials.
  • Select the Group or Tenant you wish to apply.

  • Navigate to Policies >  Client. Choose the Option Sonicwall Managed Latest Release or Sonicwall Managed General Release for an automatic upgrade of Capture Client and Sentinelone to the Latest or General release.

  • Choose Custom to Manually select the Capture Client and Sentinelone Version needed.
Sonicwall offers two types of Release.
1) Sonicwall-Managed Release: Cloud Management Console manages and updates the Client version without user intervention when new client gets release.
2) Self- Managed Release: Cloud Management Console will not manage the updates automatically when a new client gets released. The Admin has to choose the version manually to update the Capture Client and Sentinelone.
