How to Change the Country Code on a TZ Wireless Firewall

Description

Customers with wireless international TZW units may wish to change the regulatory domain and country for the wireless internal radio. This issue can occur if the user has initially set a country of operation, but the unit is now operating in a different country and/or regulatory domain.

Resolution

Customers should download the latest firmware for their device, backup their existing settings, factory reset the device, and select the appropriate country for operation. Please note that certain countries do not allow the country code to be changed by the user once set on the device (for example, the United States).

To download and upgrade to the latest SonicOS firmware, please follow the steps outlined here: How Can I Upgrade SonicOS Firmware.

Once the latest firmware has been installed and the unit factory reset, please follow these steps to set the proper country code:

  1. Navigate to Device | Internal Wireless. If you encounter the following warning, note that you must register your device to allow wireless operations. Please follow the steps outlined in, How Can I Register a Product in MySonicWall Account?

Otherwise, continue to navigate to Device | Internal Wireless | Settings.

  2. Select the Country Code drop down, then click on the appropriate country. Note that, depending on the regulatory domain, there may be only a single selection in the drop down.

  3. Save the settings. The device will restart.

  4. Once the restart is complete, return to the Device | Internal Wireless | Settings page, and verify the configuration.
