How do I transfer licenses from one SonicWall to another?

Description

This article describes the process for license transfer from one device to another 

Resolution

You must contact Customer Service to request a license transfer that is not part of a Secure Upgrade promotion Or RMA service transfer.

NOTE:  Please be aware this process may take between 24 to 48 hours.

License transfer is possible per the below standard policy:

  • The appliance (Source and Destination) must be under the same MySonicWall account.
  • Only Standard licenses (Purchased licenses) can be transferred. The default license which comes with the product cannot be transferred.
  • The Flexspend and MSSP Monthly keys cannot be transferred by Customer Service.
  • The source and destination devices must be of the same model to transfer licenses except for SSL VPN and Global VPN. The prices for SSL VPN and Global VPN licenses are the same for all models. However, there may be price differences for other services.
  • If Customers would like to transfer licenses between devices of different models, they will need to speak with the sales team at sales@sonicwall.com (all regions) or by Phone: at +1-888-557-6642 (Only NOAM).
