How to set priority in static route
Resolution
Resolution for SonicOS 7.X
This release includes significant user interface changes and many new features that are different from the SonicOS 6.5 and earlier firmware. The below resolution is for customers using SonicOS 7.X firmware.
If you have routers on your interfaces and if you want to access the computers attached to the router, you need to configure static routes on the SonicWall security appliance on the Network | Routing page. The static route policies will create static routing entries that make decisions based upon source address, source Netmask, destination address, destination Netmask, service, interface, gateway and metric.Here We explain on how to prioritize Static routes as per your requirement.
- Navigate to Policy|Rules and Policies|Routing Rules.
- Click on Add to create a new Route.
- Once we have the routes created we can prioritize the routes as per our requirement. Routes are prioritized by Metrics. The lower the metric the higher the precedence.
- Once we have the routes created with Metrics specified, Route with Lower Metric value will take higher Precedence. Refer to the screenshot below.

- Login to the SonicWall Appliance.
- Navigate to Network | Routing as shown in the Image.
- Select Custom Routes and then click Add to create a new Route.
- Once we have the routes created we can prioritize the routes as per our requirement. Routes are prioritized by Metrics. The lower the metric the higher the precedence.
