How to enable Apple Airplay Mirroring on the same Wireless Zone (WLAN) for iOS devices

Description

How to enable Apple Airplay Mirroring on the same Wireless Zone (WLAN) for iOS devices. This article helps when Apple TV and iOS devices are on the same zone and the AirPlay Mirroring is not working.

Step 1: Enabling IP Helper & mDNS Protocol
Step 2: Configuration the Access Rules
Step 3: Enable "Interface Trust" on Zone

Resolution

Procedure:

Step 1: Enabling IP Helper & mDNS Protocol

1. Log into the Sonicwall Management GUI
2. Go to Network -> IP Helper page
3. Enable IP Helper by checking"Enable IP Helper" checkbox.
4. Enable mDNS by checking
"mDNS" checkbox





Step 2: Configuration the Access Rules

1. Navigate to Firewall -> Access Rules
2. Select the "Matrix" View Style and then WLAN to WLAN intersection. (Or another WLAN zone in which are the devices)?




3. Create a new Access Rules

Enable "Interface Trust" on Zone

1. Go to Network -> Zones page
2. Click "configure" button on the WLAN Zone (or other in which the AppleTV is working)
3. Enable "Allow Interface Trusted" and click OK
4. Check if there is a green icon on WLAN Interface Trusted

  • Note: By default the "Interface Trusted" is disabled in WLAN Zone
