SonicWall Inspects Every File, Every Time
Are you comfortable with only inspecting some of the files entering your ecosystem? While SonicWall next-generation firewalls (NGFW) inspect all files regardless of size, WatchGuard only inspects files up to 20 MB … and that’s on their higher-end products. Their entry-level products only inspect files up to 5 MB — a limit easily exceeded by PDFs and Office docs (which frequently harbor malicious code), not to mention videos and specialized file formats such as .ai or .dwg.

Simplicity vs. Silos
Even at the entry level, SonicWall offers the simplicity of an integrated cybersecurity platform and single-pane-of-glass management. But with WatchGuard, you’re dependent on one third-party provider for sandboxing, one for gateway AV, another for content filtering, and one more for application control. WatchGuard also doesn’t offer switches (or even third-party switch integration.) This patchwork of solutions not only creates siloes, it also greatly complicates customer service and incident response.

You Get What You Pay For
WatchGuard’s entry-level NGFWs lack several crucial features, such as 2.5/5/10 GB interfaces, redundant power supply or application-based routing. Without multi-tenancy or the ability to access or expand storage, your solution could quickly become obsolete as your business grows. And since WatchGuard only inspects a limited number of protocols and file sizes, you also have to factor an increased risk of successful attack into your calculations.
