Customize a Default gateway for the SMA Appliance Using Azure/AWS Platform

From 10.2.1.10 onwards, user can adjust default gateway on SMA using Azure/AWS with the custom settings. This feature will resolve the issue for the cloud platform, they provide default gateway for each Virtual Machines, so user need to disable the default gateway from the cloud platform in order to configure the default gateway on SMA administrator page. This feature provides an option to disable the default gateway from the cloud platform or customize the default gateway on SMA.

For Azure platform, there is no way to configure the default gateway on the Azure Management Page. Setup is by default.

For AWS platform, there is no way to configure the default gateway on the AWS Management Page. Setup is by default.

To enable customize option

  1. Navigate to the Network > Routes page.
  2. In the Default route region, Enable Customize option.
  3. In the Default IPv4 Gateway field, set the IP address of the firewall or other gateway device through which the SMA appliance connects to the network. This address acts as the default route for the appliance.
  4. In the Interface drop-down menu, select the interface that serves as the IPv4 connecting interface to the network. In most cases, the interface is X0.
  5. In the Default IPv6 Gateway field, set the IPv6 address of the firewall or other gateway device through which the SMA appliance connects to the network. This address acts as the default IPv6 route for the appliance.
  6. In the Interface drop-down menu, select the interface that serves as the IPv6 connecting interface to the network.
  7. Click Accept.

To disable customize option

After disable the customize option, the virtual machine will reboot and the previous default gateway will be replaced by Azure/AWS platform settings.

  1. Navigate to the Network > DNS page.
  2. In the Default route region, disable Customize option.
  3. Click Accept.

To reset the network using Azure/AWS

If user set the wrong gateway, it will make the appliance inaccessible, and user can reset the appliance network via appliance CLI. Then the Default gateway will roll back to settings from users' cloud platform.

Default gateway Customize option will be disabled.

  1. Login the appliance serial console.
  2. Select the option Reset Network option.
  3. Input Yes.
