Customers may encounter issues when trying to run HTML5 RDP bookmarks inside the Virtual Office Portal from iOS devices when accessing via browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.). In the other hand, the connection may still work from other devices, like for example, Mac OS, Android, Windows, etc.
When trying to launch the bookmark from the browser, an error message like the following will appear:
The reason of this issue is because of a trusted certificate is needed in order to be able to run HTML5 bookmarks inside the browser in iOS devices.
You will notice that when accessing to the portal from Safari the following message will appear informing you that the server identity cannot be verified:
Also, a browser like Google Chrome will display a red icon in the navigation bar like the one below, meaning that the connection is not trusted.
If you are using a self-signed certificate the solution will be acquiring a certificate signed by a Certificate Authority that is trusted by the specific iOS version you are using. You may find that some iOS versions, especially old ones, will not trust some certificates that are trusted by newer iOS versions.Apple publishes a list of the trusted root certificates that are preinstalled with iOS.
A workaround for this issue is using Mobile Connect to connect to the portal and launch the HTML5 bookmark from the Mobile Connect client directly. Make sure the option "Display Bookmark to Mobile Connect clients" is checked inside the bookmarks and the option "Allow NetExtender/Mobile Connect connections to this portal" is selected from that specific portal, as shown in the screenshots below.
